ASPIRATIONS

Florida is both my heart and home. I would love to be known as a writer who captures her wild beauty. 

Florida Culture is a menagerie of peoples and backgrounds. It is where the Seminole people vigilantly protect our wetlands. It is where children swam with baby alligators under a moonlit sky. It is home to ranchers, poachers, conservationists, python hunters, alligator wranglers, transplants, and crackers. 

Florida's Biodiverse Environment offers an atmosphere begging for story - springs, caves, estuaries, sinkholes, marshes, swamps, scrub, hardwood hammocks, prairies, and coquina rock beaches. My hope is to use these rich biosphere regions as the stage for my storytelling.

These are the genres that I would love to see blended in my career as a novelist.

Upmarket Fiction for its marriage of lyrical prose and commercial appeal.

Women's Fiction for its perspective of the female mind and how we process the world around us on our journey.

Suspense for stakes with mystery and danger. One of the many reasons why Florida makes for an ideal muse.

Historical Fiction for the love of exploring Florida history while relating it to a contemporary audience. In the hopes of preserving our beautifully wild environment.

Reese's Bookclub selections resonate with my personal reading preferences as well as the type of literature I aspire to create. 

Delia Owens for her contemplative and deeply atmospheric prose combined with elements of suspense.

Barbara Kingsolver for her cultural portrayals of her Appalachian people, lyrical descriptions and socially conscience subject themes.

Kristin Hannah for her emotionally resonant stories that blend historical and contemporary issues. 

Rebecca Renner for her inspirational portrayal of Florida folklore, culture, and conservation issues.

Donna Everhart, Laura Barrow, & Madeline Martin for the way these talented women are everything kind and generous - welcoming my dreams.

I envision my readers as women between the ages of 30-55 who are well-educated and enjoy atmospheric storytelling with female character arcs that resonate with their own experiences. 

They likely stay current on society issues and want to learn while being entertained through prose.  

I hope to be an author who connects well with these readers - both on and off the page through a well-branded social media presence and travel for in-person connections.

I also love the idea of book collaborations with other writers of diverse backgrounds to offer authentic points of view in Florida storytelling. As a white woman, I welcome any partners to better articulate the scope of my beautifully diverse state. I also look forward to amplifying these voices in the literary community.

I would love to work with an agent who connects with my personality style as well as my art. 

I am a woman, wife, mother of four children, and a photographer. I am a lover of water, sunshine, and exploration.

I am a thinker, planner, and dreamer. As an ambivert I prefer smaller groups with deep and meaningful interactions. 

I am positive and eager to please. I love setting goals, then working hard to achieve them. I'm an enneagram 3w2. 

I appreciate working with professionals who are respectful, kind, communicative, honest, and passionate about what they do.

While the qualities on this page are important to me, I would also like my work to have commercial appeal. I am prepared to adapt and learn so that we may reach an optimal outcome.

I welcome feedback and hope to use it to craft beautiful works of fiction that will stand the test of time.

As an entrepreneur, I am excited to learn about the business side of authorship. My current schedule as a fine art wedding photographer is flexible as I can limit my commissions as necessary. 

I am committed to working hard so that I may be a valuable contributor to the publication world.
